Dear Elector
Just a few things you may like to know about me personally
- I was born in London and have lived in Jersey for 32 years.

- I am a qualified (CPFA) accountant, have an Open University Degree, a Diploma in Financial Services Compliance, and Certificate in Management Studies
- I enjoy sailing and keep a (small) boat in St Aubin's harbour. I like nothing better than pottering about the local waters and working on the boat. I am also keen cyclist and rode my bike to town every day for over 10 years.
- I enjoy any kind of music from classical to trance, have attended Glastonbury festival three times in past five years.
- I am an environmentalist and love wild open spaces, the Island's natural beauty and wonderful quality of our countryside, the country lanes and the very many special buildings, so rich in heritage.
- I am passionately interested in urban design and recognise the huge importance of building design to our environment.
I expect you are thinking why should you honour me with your vote, especially when you have such a good choice of candidates for election as your Deputy in the States for St Brelade Number 1.
Please allow me a few minutes of your time to explain why I think I am best qualified:
- The parish needs politicians to represent its interests but who are also able to deal effectively with both the the huge issues facing the Island as a whole.
- I have experience gained as manager of a local law firm firm for the past five years , as a self-employed consultant and in the finance industry but especially from 25 years working for the States, in the States Treasury, as a Health Service manager, and 13 years as Chief Officer of the Planning and Environment department until 2004 when I accepted redundancy on the departments merger with Public Services to enable the transition from States Committees to Ministerial government.
- Moreover, I am willing to work tirelessly on your behalf . If I am elected I shall resign from full-time employment and shall have the time required to represent you.
- I am a team person and have served with many local voluntary groups. Most recently as the Chairman of the Jersey Arts Centre. My previous voluntary roles included: Arts Centre Treasurer for three years ; trustee of the Shelter Trust; member of Les Amis Management Committee; member of the Jersey steering group for the Eradication of Poverty and Treasurer of the Regent Tigers Swimming Club.
- I offer my knowlege and experience of the Planning system here and in the other Channel Islands to assist the parish and parishioners as planning matters require need close scrutiny. I also participated in the Planning workshop for St Aubin's Village which set the long term vision for this our jewel in the Crown and am committed to the principles of local community involvement in planning and environmental matters .Planning decisions are either enjoyed or endured way beyond the lifetime of those who make them.
